Born and raised in Los Angeles, California, it’s been my dream since I was a kid to one day live on Maui to wave sail.  My favorite childhood memories were summer weekends spent with my parents 3 hours north of LA at Lake Isabella with our friends windsurfing.  I got hooked when I was in my early teens, it wasn’t a lot of windsurfing, and what it was when it was firing wasn’t really the most extreme in hindsight, but it was a blast!  We only had a few weekends a summer to sail, and the rest of the year was spent looking at magazines and waiting for videos to come.  I always loved seeing pictures and videos of the waves on Maui and would dream about riding them.  When I was 15 I spent 2 weeks in Haiku with the Siver’s and knew I wanted to do everything I could to come back for good.  After graduating UC Davis in 2008, instead of moving back to LA or SF to get a ‘real job,’ I moved up to Hood River and never looked back. I fell in love with the place but really the people who are the best friends I could ask for and knew that for sure that I wanted to have a career in the windsurfing industry.  After traveling teaching and doing demo’s for a year and a half, I made it back to Maui in 2010 and have spent every winter here since.  In 2013 I met my wife who was from New Caledonia, and together we ‘agreed’ that Maui was a good halfway point between homes!  Windsurfing has been the undermining determining factor in every major decision of my life, and so far I have zero regrets!  The gear absolutely fascinates me, which is why I love living in the epicenter of windsurfing R&D and so stoked Pio asked me to be a part of his team and enlighten my knowledge on one of the most crucial yet often times overlooked pieces of your quiver, the fins!
